The Cry of the Heart  †

Testimony - Cyprus

People have asked me over the years if I would love to go to Israel.  Yes, I would reply, but I told them that I didn't think that I would go until the Millennium.  I meant the millennium after Jesus came back again and sets up His millennial reign as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords here on this earth.  I didn't dream that the millennium that I was speaking of was the year 2000, but that is what happened.  In January of the year 2000, I got a call from my church, informing me that they had an anonymous donor, and if I was interested, the trip was paid for.  I got interested.  When I told some people about how God had blessed me with the trip, one young man reminded me that this was the new millennium, and that I had gotten just what I had been saying for all of those years.  The Bible says that our words are very powerful, and this is one example of reaping the fruit of our lips.  Proverbs 28:21 -- "Death and life [are] in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof."

This trip was marked by a series of events that would try to hinder us from the work that God had for us in Israel.  This was to be a prayer tour, not an evangelistic mission.  When we got to the airport, we found out that our flight had been delayed.  There was a part on the airplane that was not functioning, so they said that we would have to wait until they flew in a part from Denver.  This took several hours, and when they did get the part to the Mpls./St. Paul airport, they couldn't find it.  Then the airline ushered us onto the plane, but after we were on the aircraft, they told us that they had found a hole in the hull of the plane, and we couldn't take off until it was fixed.  After about a four or five hour delay, we were up in the air, and then someone came on the loudspeaker and they were asking for anyone with medical training to come forward.  One of the flight crew was having a heart attack.  We landed in Canada and let this person off to receive medical attention, but we couldn't help thinking, what else is going to happen?

When we arrived in Amsterdam, our connecting flight was gone, of course.  As we got off the plane, we were handed another plane ticket to various countries, eventually arriving in Tel Aviv, Israel.  Some people were sent to Turkey, some to Rome, and I was sent to Cyprus.  After we got off of the plane in Cyprus, I saw a young girl that was working in one of the booths in the airport.  She was selling sandwiches and sodas, and as soon as a saw her, my heart was drawn to her.  I knew that I was supposed to pray with her for salvation.  After you go out on the streets for any length of time, you get a knowing inside of yourself about these things.  There was only one problem.  This girl seemed to have a never ending supply of customers.  I couldn't just go up and interrupt her and keep her from her work.  I didn't want to interfere with her business.  So I waited, walking back and forth, watching for an opportunity.  That opportunity did not seem to be forthcoming.

Finally, I told God, "Maybe I was wrong.  I don't see any opening, here, Lord.  I can't go up and interrupt her."  Immediately, all of her customers cleared away.  The way was clear.  I went up to her and bought a couple of small items, and struck up a conversation with her.  She was from London, and how she ended up in Cyprus, I do not know.  I asked her if she knew for sure that she was going to heaven someday, and she said that she did not, but she did want to know.  I explained the way of salvation to her, and she prayed and received the Lord into her heart.  The anointing was so strong all of the time that I was talking to her, that it was almost a tangible thing.  This was a Divine appointment.  God doesn't create mishaps with airplanes, or give people heart attacks, but if those things happen, and we end up in a particular location, then it is like He says,"OK, now that you are here... I have a job for you."

One footnote to this little incident, after I felt like I was finished with this girl, I went back to my seat, and told a couple of the women in our group that this girl had prayed for salvation.  We began to pray for her, that God would direct her into a good church and guide and direct her and cause her to grow.  Then I looked up, and saw that this girl's boss had arrived, that they shut down the food booth, and she was done for the night.  Talk about Divine timing!  If I had hesitated even five more minutes, she would have been gone, and an opportunity lost.  We need to be sensitive to the voice of the Holy Ghost, and obey His promptings.  As we learn how to yield to Him, He gives us the ability to carry out any assignment.  Praise the Lord!

Donations

Would you like to participate in sending people out on the missions field?  If you would like to give financially, and be a blessing to thousands of people, I would like to give you the opportunity to help.  I believe that when we give, it is given back to us, and God multiplies it so that it is more than we can contain.
