Ephesians 6:10-18

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places].

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

All of us experience storms in our lives.  Whether it is sickness, disaster, loss of a job or spouse--we all have our list.  The Bible says "many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivereth him out of them all." Psalm 34:19.  But what do we do, and what can we do when these storms come?  We do everything... all that we know to do.

We clothe ourselves in the full armour of God.  We put on the helmet of salvation.  We are saved and sanctified by the blood of Jesus.  We are God's children, and have been translated out of the kingdom of darkness and into the kingdom of God's dear Son.  And that helmet surrounds our mind...  The place where the onslaught of the enemy is directed is our mind.  Many times those people who are under extreme oppression all say the same thing...  That they think that they have committed the unpardonable or unforgivable sin.  And that they are not good enough or worthy enough for God to love them or forgive them.  Lies of the enemy!  The devil wants you to believe that, and take off that helmet, but no...  The Word says that "if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved..."  So if God said it, it is so.

We put on the belt of truth (God's Word) by which all of the armor is held together.

We put on the breastplate of righteousness...  Not our own righteousness which is like filthy rags, but His righteousness.  The Word tells us that we ARE the righteousness of God in Jesus Christ, so we put that on, and clothe ourselves in His righteousness.  We are righteous because He says we are.

"Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God." Romans 5:1&2

We take the sheild of faith, and the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God.

The Word of God is the only offensive weapon in the armor.  Did you know that?  The rest of the armor is defensive, and not offensive.   How do we combat the forces of darkness that come against us in this life?  With the Word of God, (that Sword) just as Jesus did when He was tempted and tested out in the wilderness.  He answered the devil every time with the Word of God...  "It is written."

And in order to stand on the Word of God and wield that sword, you need to know the Word of God.  A lot of times, if you ask someone that is in a crisis situation what the scriptures are that they are standing on, they don't know.  How are you going to stand on the Word of God if you don't know what you are standing on?

And what do you do, when you think that you have done all that you can do?  Stand.  Just stand.  Stand on the Word.  Even if it looks like things are not going to work out.  Even if everything and every one in the world tells you that things are impossible.  Just stand.  God is faithful to perform His Word.  And you don't have to do it.  That is His responsiblilty.  It is His Word.

When your mind tells you that you are not going to make it...  Answer that thought, and tell it, "no, that is not my thought.  The Word of God tells me that I am always victorious in Christ Jesus.  The Word of God tells me that every plan that God has for me is for my benefit, I have a hope and a future."

When you are battling sickness and disease, and the devil tells you that you are just not going to make it this time...  Tell him that he is a liar.  Tell him that the Word says that "by the stripes of Jesus I was healed and made whole."

This passage in Ephesians tells us that "we wrestle not".  Many times people think that they have to fight the devil in their own strength, and struggle and fight...  But the battle has already been won!  Jesus already defeated the devil 2000 years ago when He died on that cross and God raised Him from the dead.  We already have victory.  So we just stand clothed in His armor, covered by the blood of Jesus, and stand.  When the devil tries to come against us...  Use the WORD OF GOD against him, and STAND!
